Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed the pioneering role played by the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications in supporting innovation, enhancing scientific research, and serving society. He pointed out that what the city has achieved over 25 years of hard work and accomplishments reflects its commitment to its mission of being a beacon of science and creativity, and an active contributor to achieving sustainable development. <br> In this context, and under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications, under the supervision of Dr. Mona Abdel Latif, Director of the City, organized the celebration ceremony of the Silver Jubilee on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its inauguration. <br> Dr. Hossam El-Din Othman, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Innovation and Scientific Research Affairs, emphasized the importance of the role played by the City in supporting innovation and serving society, stressing that scientific research is the driving force of sustainable development. <br> In her speech, Dr. Mona Abdel Latif affirmed that the celebration of 25 years represents an important milestone to launch towards a brighter future, confirming the continued commitment of the City to implement the strategies of the State and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and to develop innovative solutions to national challenges in the fields of education, health, energy, water, environmental protection, information technology, agriculture, and food security. She also highlighted the preparation of research cadres, strengthening local and international cooperation, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and contributing to the dissemination of scientific awareness. The celebration included a film presentation about the City’s journey, honoring former directors in recognition of their sincere efforts and strategic vision that contributed to placing the City on the regional and international scientific research map, as well as honoring distinguished employees and the City’s members who assumed national and international leadership positions. The program also included an artistic performance by the Cultural Palaces Choir, a tour of a mini-exhibition showcasing research outputs, and another tour of the Cloud Computing Center. <div class="my-5 d-flex flex-column"> <img class="rounded shadow" src="/uploads/imgs/8b957e88-babf-497f-8e80-dba18eb80c4d.jpg" alt=""> </div> <p style="text-align:justify;" class="lh-lg"> The celebration was attended by Dr. Hossam El-Din Othman, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Innovation and Scientific Research Affairs; Prof. Dr. Walaa Mohamed Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority; Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Deputy Director of the City of Scientific Research for Academic and Research Affairs; in addition to many presidents of research centers, university presidents and their deputies, representatives of the Armed Forces, former directors of the City of Scientific Research and their representatives, deans of the City’s research institutes, a number of chairmen of industrial company boards, representatives from the Ministry of Endowments, a representative of the Diocese of Borg El Arab and Amreya and its affiliates, along with members of the research and teaching staff from various research centers and universities. At the conclusion of the celebration, Dr. Mona Abdel Latif pointed out the City’s commitment to continue its journey towards achieving further accomplishments, noting that the City will remain a vital hub for supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and will work on enhancing partnerships between academic and industrial circles to translate research ideas into value-added products and services. <br> It is worth mentioning that the City was established in 1993 by Presidential Decree No. 85 of 1993 under the name “Mubarak City for Scientific Research and Technological Applications Authority,” and its name was changed to its current one in 2011. The City currently includes 5 research institutes and 2 technology centers, occupying an area of 225 feddans in New Borg El Arab City, west of Alexandria. </p>

Dr. Amr El-Masry, Acting President of Matrouh University, received today, Tuesday, at the university's presidency headquarters, His Eminence Sheikh Attia Salem, Head of the Central Administration of Matrouh Al-Azhar Region, Professor Mahmoud Al-Halabi, Director General of Cultural Sciences in the region, and His Eminence Sheikh Saber Al-Sharqawi, Director of the Quran Affairs Department. <br> The visit was to congratulate Dr. Amr El-Masry on the issuance of the decision by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, appointing him as Acting President of Matrouh University. Professor Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, issued a ministerial decree appointing Professor Dr. Amr Ahmed Abdel Moneim El-Masry as Acting President of Matrouh University, effective Friday, August 1, 2025, until a presidential decree appointing a new president is issued. <br> This decision comes within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's commitment to ensuring the continued efficient operation of universities and supporting institutional stability, thus contributing to the achievement of development goals in the higher education sector. <br> Matrouh University is currently witnessing a number of important steps toward completing its infrastructure and developing its academic and research system. This is in line with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, which places special emphasis on supporting regional universities and enhancing their role in serving the community and developing the local environment. Matrouh University faculty and staff members welcomed the Minister's decision, wishing Professor Amr El-Masry success in his new role. Matrouh University organized a major celebration on Monday to honor Dr. Mostafa Youssef El-Naggar, the outgoing University President, in appreciation of his sincere efforts and outstanding achievements during his term in office.<br> The ceremony was attended by prominent officials and community figures. Matrouh University Council, chaired by Dr. Mostafa El-Naggar, President of the University, held its ninetieth session on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in the presence of the university's vice presidents, deans of faculties, and council members. The session was held in the main meeting hall on the university campus in Marsa Matrouh. At the beginning of the session, the University President and the esteemed Council extended their sincere congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the great Egyptian people on the occasion of the seventy-third anniversary of the glorious July 23 Revolution. He emphasized that this timeless national occasion represents a shining landmark in the nation's history and embodies the meanings of dignity, will, and change. Dr. Mostafa El-Naggar expressed his thanks and appreciation to the university family, including deans, faculty members, support staff, and employees, for their sincere efforts during the past period and the significant strides achieved in the university's journey. He praised the spirit of cooperation and teamwork in serving the university and its students, and emphasized his confidence in their ability to continue building and elevating the university's standing in the coming period. During the session, the Council reviewed a visual presentation of the most prominent construction projects and achievements recently completed within the framework of the university's strategic plan for infrastructure development. A comprehensive report was also presented on scientific research efforts, international cooperation, the expansion of academic partnerships and signed protocols, and the remarkable progress achieved in global rankings. The session also witnessed the Council's approval to award a doctorate degree to a female student at the university, and to award master's degrees to six students from various faculties.
