Dr. Mostafa Youssef El-Naggar, President of Matrouh University, announced today, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, that the university has qualified for the Tech Care GEN-Z competition, under the supervision of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (Entrepreneurship Club). The President of Matrouh University explained that the competition aims to spread the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among Egyptian university students and encourage innovative students and entrepreneurs from all different scientific disciplines at Egyptian universities to establish their own startup companies. Students with innovative ideas or community initiatives that address difficulties, meet market needs, and overcome existing challenges should have the innovative idea based on clear scientific foundations. The competition comes within the framework of cooperation between the United Media Services Company and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for innovators and talents at the university level. The university president confirmed that the participating team from Matrouh University, comprising Abdel Aziz Sami, a student in the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, and Habeeba Hamouda Ahmed, a student in the Faculty of Desert and Environmental Agriculture, was promoted to one of 222 teams from the regional university and research center qualifiers. The qualifiers were held at Kafr El-Sheikh University for the Delta region, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport for the Southern Upper Egypt region, Zagazig University for the Canal and Sinai region, Helwan University for the Greater Cairo region, Alexandria University for the Alexandria region, and Nahda University for the North and Central Upper Egypt region. The qualified team participated in a training camp, which 129 teams qualified for, and hosted by Galala University. The camp aimed to support the teams and provide them with the necessary training, guidance, and mentorship to improve the business models of their projects, transform their innovative ideas into products that contribute to the local and international market, and prepare them to compete at the international level. At the conclusion of the training camp, the Tech Care team qualified to join the Gen Z television program, and filming of the television episodes began under the supervision of United Media Services. Dr. Mustafa Yousef El-Naggar, President of the University, extended his sincere congratulations to the team participating in the Gen-Z competition for their distinguished qualification in this important competition. He emphasized the university's great importance in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and encourages its students to develop their ideas and transform them into startup projects that contribute to supporting the local and international economy. Dr. Mustafa El-Naggar indicated that the university will continue to support all efforts aimed at promoting a culture of innovation and developing entrepreneurial skills among students, believing in their role in facing future challenges.
